A message was observed circulating on social media including on Facebook and WhatsApp stating that the salaries for the month of May of the public servants will be cut if they were part of the Hartal on 6th of May.

This message was circulated as an announcement which was issued by the Presidential Media Division.

A screenshot of the above message is attached below.

There are several features that make this article a fake.

For example, this article states that the salaries for the month of May will be cut for the public servants who will join the hartal campaign “Tomorrow”.

However, the letter was issued on 3rd of May 2022 and the date of the Hartal Campaign is 6th of May 2022.

Accordingly, the dates in this article indicate that this is an erroneous article.

In addition, when comparing this article with the other articles which are issued by the Presidential Media Unit, we can identify that the letter head and the state emblem is slightly blurred.

The Presidential Media Unit has issued a statement stating that this document which is circulating on Facebook is fake.

An image of the announcement which was published by the Presidential Media Unit is attached below.

Conclusion – The announcement which was circulated on social media platforms stating that there will be “May pay cuts for public servants participating in the Hartal Campaign” is fake.
