About Us:

Hashtag Generation is an antiracist, feminist movement led and run by a group of young tech-savvy Sri Lankans working towards building a society where everyone has the skills, information and tools to be active participants in making the decisions that affect their communities, technologies and bodies. The group adopts a non-partisan approach and works with the strong conviction that decision-making at all levels should remain transparent and radically inclusive in order to remain sustainable and to build lasting peace in Sri Lanka. 

Our work consists of initiatives such as advocating for youth participation in decision-making, strengthening women’s civic and political engagement, advocacy for the rights of ethnic, religious and sexual minorities and raising awareness on the importance of cyber security and countering misinformation and online hate speech. 

The Head of Operations will serve under the guidance of the Head of Programmes/Board of Directors and will play a pivotal role in the strategic and operational leadership of our organization, ensuring the effective and efficient implementation of our programs and initiatives. This role involves overseeing daily operations, optimizing organizational processes, and leading the implementation of key projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Operational Leadership:
  • Develop and implement strategic operational plans to enhance organizational performance.
  • Oversee procurement and logistical processes to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Formulate and refine strategies to improve overall operational efficiency.
  1. Project Management:
  • Lead and manage the implementation of projects, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and objectives.
  • Guide project teams to execute plans effectively, adhering to timelines and budgets.
  • Monitor and evaluate project progress, making adjustments as necessary for optimal outcomes.
  1. Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, partners, and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to donors, including the preparation of detailed and transparent narrative and financial reports. 
  1. Capacity Building:
  • Support the organization in internal capacity building initiatives to enhance team skills and knowledge. 
  • Identify and address training needs within the team to improve overall competency and performance.
Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management and/or working in the development sector with a focus on human rights, gender equality, digital media and democracy.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in law, management, social sciences or a related field.  
  • Expertise: Strong understanding of social media, human rights and social issues. 
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in Tamil or Sinhala, along with English.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Organization: Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Decision-Making: Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
