As a group that has been advocating for meaningful engagement of women in local governance we were concerned that the delays in holding elections, while posing a broader threat to democracy in the country, will also pose a significant challenge to sustaining the continued interest in on the 25% quota for women in local government bodies. Hence, on 29th November 2017, Hashtag Generation, supported by the FRIDA Young Feminist Fund, hosted a meeting for civil society organizations, activists and women’s rights advocates, highlighting the importance of collective action and collaborative movements at this juncture. The meeting was attended by representatives of National and international civil society groups, independent consultants working on the field and also young journalists.
