#WEGOVERNSL – 2016 by Hashtag Generation encompassed training programs aimed at young women politicians in Sri Lanka to better equip them in a largely male-dominated field. Implemented through a grant received from the Frida Young Feminist Fund, two residential training programs were conducted in Colombo (Sinhala) and Jaffna (Tamil) in June 2016. The training programs took place on two consecutive days with the participation of forty participants from various backgrounds. The sessions covered many important topics including the basics of politics, using social media for campaign purposes, utilising mass media for election purposes,  advocating for issues on online platforms and electoral mapping.
