FACT CHECK : Is singer Shihan Mihiranga raising money for children diagnosed with cancer through a YouTube channel?

A Facebook post circulating on social media was observed stating that singer Shihan Mihiranga has helped a child diagnosed with cancer by collecting funds at a previous concert, along with an invite to join a YouTube channel in order to help other such children in need.

It was observed that the initial post was posted in a Facebook group which was created in the name of Shihan Mihiranga.

Currently, this post has been removed from the aforementioned Facebook group.

The initial post circulated rapidly on Facebook as follows.

“I was at a concert when I found out that my best friend’s little son was diagnosed with cancer. He called me and asked for help where he was incapable of spending anymore. My fans raised a huge amount of money when I said it during the concert which resulted in the cure of the child”.

“There’s a YouTube channel mentioned in the first comment which is created to donate money in order to help such children”.

Singer Shihan Mihiranga posted a note in this regard in his official Facebook page. A screenshot of the post is attached below. Here.

In order to confirm this further, Hashtag Generation made an inquiry into Shihan Mihiranga in this regard.

“This is a complete lie. I have nothing to do with that YouTube channel. I shared a post on Facebook denying it”.

When we checked further with regard to the YouTube channel, we were able to observe that the channel has already been disabled. A screenshot of the above mentioned YouTube channel is attached below. Here.

Conclusion – We can conclude that the Facebook post circulating that singer Shihan Mihiranga is raising money for children diagnosed with cancer using a YouTube channel is fake. It can also be concluded that there is no connection between Mihiranga and the YouTube Channel.
